3- Sessions for Holiday Classes and Specialty Classes are 4-week long for a total of 4 or 6 hours of tuition - 1 or 1.5 hour per week.

All classes have a backup week for cancelation due inclement weather or unforeseen event from the Alliance Française or the teachers.

What do class codes mean?

General Regular classes in Alliance Française chapters around the world follow the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).

The CEFRL sets language competency levels as follows.

A1 = Beginner
A2 = Elementary
B1 = Intermediary
B2 = Independent
C1 = Advanced
C2 = Proficient

Click HERE for a detailed description of the levels.

Classes change levels from session to session.  However, class days and times stay the same throughout the year and from level to level.

Within each level, you will find sub-levels.  For example, within level A1, you will find A1.0, A1.1, A1.2 etc... indicating how far along each class has gone within level A1.

If you're currently enrolled in a class, your class will resume on the same days and times in the next course.  Only the class code will change so as to reflect your group's progress.  For example, if you're currently enrolled in class A1.1, you'll be moving on to A1.2. same days, same times.

You will need en average about 90 to 100 hours to complete the A1 level,  about 90 to 100 additional hours to complete the A2 level, and additional 180 hours to complete each of the B1, B2, and C levels. You can always follow your progress using the placement test.

A new class needs a minimum of 3 students to be open. Ask us if you would like to have a class that it is not yet on the schedule.
