The junior version of the DELF has the same basic structure as the standard DELF.
This “junior” version focuses on topics that are relevant and interesting to young people aged 12 to 18 (middle and high school level). Since the DELF exams evaluate communication skills, the junior version places candidates in familiar, age-appropriate contexts that make it easier for them to respond and demonstrate their full abilities.
The topics differ from those in the tout public (general public) version, as they reflect the interests and experiences of young learners. However, teenagers and young adults between 12 and 18 years old may take either version. The junior DELF diploma holds exactly the same value as the tout public diploma — the version of the exam is not indicated on the certificate.
Each exam is independent, and candidates may register for the level of their choice. All exams assess the four communication skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
There are four DELF junior diplomas available: A1, A2, B1, and B2.
Notes:
Exam dates, times, and fees are determined by the Ambassade de France in Washington and France Éducation International. The date and time of the individual oral exam are arranged directly between the candidate and the Alliance Française de Charlotte.
