FAQ
What kind of texts can students read? Excerpts of any fiction book, play or poem in French.
Should all my students read the same excerpt? No, the choice of books and excerpts is entirely up to you and your students.
How do I select 5 students per class? It's entirely up to you. The 5 students may be selected based on their chances to win the contest, their grades in French, or any other criteria of your choice. Important: Teachers don't have to tell students that they'll select only 5.
What's in the gift bags that winners receive? Gift bags will be customized based on each student's age. For category 1 & 2: stationary items and activity books. For the older ones: French comic books. Each gift bag will be delivered to the teacher or will have to be collected at the AF local.
How do the top 5 students selected for the 2 rounds be informed? The top 5 in each categories will be informed of our selection via email provided and by their teachers. Each top 5 students will receive a certificate of participation.
What's a French immersion session like? It's a 1-hour session hosted by the Alliance. The content will be discussed with teachers so that it reflects what students have been working on in class. Winning classes in each category will be offered a few dates to choose from. In 2022, Alliance Française offered 1-hour drama sessions (breathing technique, improvising plays etc) and 1-hour Pétanque sessions ( rules, vocabulary and practice games).
